The 2025/26 PSL Betway Premiership fixtures is set to return on Tuesday, 16 September 2025, following a pause for the FIFA international break. This interruption is part of the official FIFA calendar, giving national teams the chance to play crucial international fixtures while domestic leagues take a back seat.
What Happens During the 2025 FIFA International Break?
The September FIFA break (1–9 September 2025) is a designated period when:
-
National teams play World Cup qualifiers, continental qualifiers, or friendlies.
-
FIFA rules require clubs to release their players for international duty.
-
Domestic leagues, including the PSL, pause their fixtures to accommodate these matches.
This ensures players can represent their countries without conflicting with club commitments. For managers and clubs, it is both a challenge and an opportunity—teams lose players temporarily, but also gain valuable time to recover, train, and reassess tactics before league action resumes.
